- Description
This countertop display piece contains a dozen near mint empty boxes of Seven Seas tobacco that sold for 25¢ a box.
Smokers often purchased loose tobacco to either roll their own cigarettes or use with a pipe. The John Weisert Tobacco Co. was located in St. Louis, Missouri. St. Louis became a tobacco growing and selling hub starting around 1820 due to the ease of using the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers to move the cash crop.
John Weisert's Tobacco was founded in 1880 and continued operating until 1987. The company faced legal battles with American Tobacco controlled by the Duke family as each company sought to acquire additional tobacco brands and companies. We believe this lot is from the 1950's.
