- Description
The hand-joined wooden crate is in wonderful condition and has the words '"Guaranteed under the Food and Drugs Act, June 20, 1906” on the side panel. The end panels are stenciled with “Sage Brush Hair Tonic - contains 25 percent alcohol - Nature's remedy for fallen hair.” The original corrugated paper dividing the bottles and protecting the bottle tops in the case are present.
The hand-blown bottles are 7 ½” tall and each bottle is topped with a cork. In 1920, the Sage Brush Tonic Company from Shoshone, Idaho ceased doing business due to bankruptcy. The 25% alcohol level found in the tonic was likely used to help alleviate the pain caused to the investors, employees, and creditors of Sage Tonic, and most importantly,
Sage’s customers relied on the product to stop hair loss. The wooden case measures 13 ½” in length, 9 ½” in width, and 9” in height. There are very few people on this earth who can say they have a case of Sage.
