- Description
The 9” tall Maggie and 7” tall Jiggs dolls are characters from the comic strip. These two wooden dolls are in very good condition and were hand-painted with joints that facilitated multiple poses. There are few dolls in this condition with so little wear or damage to the clothing and paint.
The dolls originally came with Maggie holding a rolling pin and Jiggs holding a corn beef and cabbage cooking pot. Like most of these sets on the market today, the rolling pin and pot are missing.
The Bringing Up Father comic strip created by George McManus in 1913 featured these characters and ran through 2000. King Features was the syndicator of the popular comic strip that eventually became known as Jiggs and Maggie. Jiggs and Maggie were Irish immigrants to the United States who constantly argued.
