The 9” tall Maggie and 7” tall Jiggs are characters from the comic strip. These two wooden dolls are in very good condition and were hand-painted with joints that facilitated multiple poses. There are few dolls in this condition with little wear or damage to the clothing and paint and with both the original rolling pin and cooking pot attached.

The Bringing Up Father comic strip created by George McManus in 1913 featured these characters and ran through 2000. King Features was the syndicator of the popular comic strip that eventually became known as Jiggs and Maggie. Jiggs and Maggie were Irish immigrants to the United States who constantly argued. Wooden character dolls do not get much better than these.
