1920's 4 lb. Metal Can of Mammy's Favorite Brand Coffee with Wire Handle

This old and highly collectable large round can of Mammy's Favorite Brand Coffee was manufactured and distributed by C.D. Kenny Co. of Baltimore, Maryland.

The can measures 11" tall and 6-3/8" in diameter. C.D. Kenny was founded in 1872 and operated a chain of tea and coffee stores that grew to over sixty locations in twelve states. In addition to coffee and tea, the company sold sugar, rice, baking products, chocolates, and spices.

During the Great Depression, the company closed all of its retail coffee and tea stores, and in 1935 it operated only as a grocery wholesaler. In 1939, the company was acquired by Consolidated Foods. 

The metal lid, bottom, and handle of the can are in very good condition, with normal oxidation from age. The picture of Mammy serving coffee with her service tray has a few flaws, except the overall darkness and fading on all the orange and black colors of the can, which hinders the ability to read and easily view all the features of the printed can as clearly as one may desire, without having to move closer to the item. 

All features of the can are viewable, but the brightness and crispness of the colors and printing are somewhat weak. Accordingly, we have priced this lot at a 50% discount to our estimated value, but rest assured that the can, colors, writing, and pictures are viewable, and the tin metal is very good with very little denting or damage
