1923 Art Metal Works "Archie The Freckled Boy With The Sparkling Eyes & Box (Mint)

This very rare toy consists of a 9" tall tin litho metal figure called Archie. When you pull the cord at the bottom of the handle, the eyes light up because of two spinning strikers that rub the interior flints.

The very colorful box has been preserved in cellophane, and the back side of the box features detailed instructions. Art Metalworks eventually became known as Ronson (the cigarette lighter people)and hence the connection to the flints associated with this toy.

This is truly a great toy to have in any special collection, and it is unlikely that you will find another in this condition.
