- Description
The “Plucky Lindy” Pin is in exceptional condition and features a picture of Lindy surrounded by red, white, and blue with the name “Plucky Lindy” under his portrait. The 1-3/8" pin was issued to commemorate his historic fight between New York and Paris in 1927. Charles Lindberg’s nickname “Plucky” originated when he flew as a contract mail pilot and had to ditch his plane twice via parachute.
In addition to the plucky pin, a Spirit of St Louis airplane-era, red lapel pin in excellent condition is also included. The bronze and blue plane featured the words Spirit of St. Louis on the airplane and New York to Paris on the metal bar representing a blue sky. We believe the pin was made around 1931 for a World’s Fair.
