1930's Auto Circus Performing Clowns

This lot features two 10" tall clowns with unique hard composite hand-painted heads dressed in very fine silk outfits.

The frame, bodies, legs, and feet are all made of tin.  A wooden acrobatic parallel bar is included. The thin silk clothing is very frayed with splits in many areas. One of the wind-up mechanisms on these 90+ year-old dolls works well, and a key is included. The wind-up mechanism on the other acrobatic doll appears to be missing. 

The great hand-painted heads are still beautiful, and all facial features remain crisp. The dolls do display well despite the somewhat poor condition of the clothing.

It is obvious that substantial work and ingenuity were used to develop these delicate and creative figures. The price of these figures enables any owner to feel good about displaying these great examples of clown history.
