- Description
This old working wind-up features a man holding a metal implement that is being shaped by a fast-moving grinding wheel.
The winding mechanism worked well when tested and the grinding wheel rapidly rotated. A small piece of flint could be attached to the metal implement to create sparks as the implement touches the grinding wheel.
The original paint colors are still discernible, including the worker's striped shirt, hat, face, and the yellow grinding wheel, but there is substantial paint loss and scratching on this piece, including the metal base.
The toy measures 4" in length, 2-1/2" in width, and 4-1/4" in height. Antique working Girard wind-ups are scarce, and this great toy is a find for this price.
