- Description
This classic lithographed gas station uses one "D" battery located behind the building to illuminate the two glass globes above the fuel dispenser and a light underneath the working car lift.
We did not test the lights with a new battery, but the wiring underneath the metal base appears to be in decent condition. We are sure new miniature flashlight-like bulbs may be needed because of the toy's age.
The base of the toy could use a repaint. The roadside snack stand, motor oil display, air compressor/filler, and two gas pumps are in good condition. This is a worthwhile toy to recondition and freshen since the metal has very few dents or nicks, with the exception of the solid green metal base.
We have seen these metal service stations sell for $1,000 and up when in excellent condition, so there is good incentive to spend some time repainting this toy. The base of the toy measures 13-1/2" in length and 10" in width.
