This rare tin litho mechanical bank works by inserting a coin in the top slot that presses a metal lever to release the manually wound boxer (Popeye) to hit the other boxer (Bluto).

When tested this mechanical bank worked, but we had to open up the coin cover to have access to position the metal lever by hand that propels Popeye to knock Bluto off the fight platform. We have taped the coin cover to the bank and it is easy to open and close by aligning the holes.

The details on the tin boxers are very worn and it is not easy to discern either Popeye's or Bluto's original facial features. The tin litho coin box and platform are in very good condition and the detailed illustrations along the sides are very easy to see and read.

This small bank measures 3-1/2" in length, 2-1/4" in width and 4-1/2" in height. The bank was made in the USA by Straits Manufacturing.

Working Popeye knockout banks are becoming scarce. The price on this item has been substantially reduced because of the loss of facial features on the tin fighters and the need to keep the metal action lever in line with the coin box.
