This elephant is a great example of a classic Japanese celluloid toy.  The key to the wind-up mechanism is missing so we are not sure if the wind-up works.  Accordingly, we have priced this item as non-working.  When you push the toy along a flat surface, the umbrella does spin as it should and the two strands of celluloid balls move around the elephant.

The wheels on the rear legs of the elephant are working as are the two barrel wheels.  The elephant originally came with six strands of beads but only two remain.  The condition of the plastic is very good with no tears or breaks.  A very good Japanese shelf piece for a cheap price.
