1950’s Marx Mechanical Wind-Up Lion with Box

This great Marx toy is 11” long (4” being tail) and is in good condition with normal wear  and a small tear in the fabric underneath the lion’s body near the left leg joint.

The wind-up mechanism worked well when tested. The lion is made of a fabric-covered tin body with a hard rubber face with nylon whiskers. When wound, the lion moves forward, aided by the wheels in the feet, makes a growling noise, and raises and lowers its head. 

The box has wear but is presentable. This is a great example of a fairly complicated toy that Marx remains famous for.
