1950's Alps Battery Operated "Pipe Smoking Bear Polishing Shoes" (Non-Working)

This vintage bear is becoming hard to find. The condition of the toy is very good with the exception of the bottom tin-litho base containing the battery cover where substantial rust is present.

The inside of the battery compartment is clean and when tested with batteries, only the light in the pipe worked. The movement of the bear's hands that contain shoe polish brushes and the legs were not working when tested.

The bear itself presents well, and all polish brushes, bell, facial features, pipe, clothing, and fur are in very good condition. This item has been heavily discounted because of its non-working condition.
