1960 Marky Maypo Rubber Doll

In 1956 Heublein (the spirits company) purchased the company that made Maypo flavored hot cereal.

The Maypo cartoon character preceded Mikey from Life cereal as Marky Maypo was the first finicky eater marketed to children.

When Marky Maypo appeared in television commercials in 1956, millions of people listened to him saying "I want my Maypo" and sales took off. 

For those who are too young to remember Maypo cereal, it tasted like Cream of Wheat but with brown coloring and a taste similar to maple syrup.
