1960’s Battery Powered “Randy Walking Monkey” with Box

This 20” tall toy monkey was made by Illfelder Toys in Japan. The somewhat plush monkey is in good condition with a few small holes in the fabric clothing and substantial color fading on the hat. The soft rubber face and hands are in good shape.

We tested the motor mechanisms and after inserting the three D batteries the toy did move its legs in the expected walking motion but the walking required some hand holding since the rubber shoes and metal fabric-coated legs do not appear to be positioned properly.

The neat part of this toy is the smile that Randy emits while he waits for a child to grab his left arm and walk him around the room.
