- Description
The Tamer is a great-looking mechanical British coin-operated amusement created by Frank Nelson.
The Tiger Tamer features a costumed circus-like trainer holding a whip while trying to control a large wild tiger. Nelson's automations are intricate. The tamer stands facing the tiger, who is sitting on a circus platform, while behind them is an illustrated picture backboard of a circus tent.
When the Tamer cracks his whip once, the tiger refuses to cooperate by shaking his head. The refusal is repeated on the second crack of the whip. On the third crack of the whip, the tiger nods his head twice and does a trick by swiveling around and letting the tamer place his head into the tiger's mouth.
This item is in excellent condition in terms of appearance. We have not tested this item due to the British configured fused plug, so accordingly, the working condition of this wonderful automation is unknown.
Also appears to have a personal note that is signed by Frank Nelson dated 12/78 on the back.
This piece is worthy of a top spot in any display. The piece measures 11-3/16" in width, 6- 5/16" in depth, and 19-1/4" in height. All visual pieces are made of quality hand-painted wood.
