- Description
Caution- both these classic wind-up military toys have winding mechanisms that work well but the desired movement of the toys does not work properly as explained below.
The large Marx tank is 9-1/2" long and 4-1/2" tall. The toy likely dates from the late 1930's. The tank has rubber treads (one newly replaced) and when wound, the winding mechanism does not transfer power to the metal wheels that turn the rubber threads. The overall condition of the tin-litho metal is very good with only light scratching from play and no oxidation.
The 1950's Ohio Art tin-litho crawling "Commando Joe" is in excellent condition but does not crawl when wound due to a broken flat metal piece that connects the turning gear by the winding key to the connection on the lower arm and leg plates.
Hopefully, the buyer realizes that these two pieces will display well as is. The value upside is probably five-fold if it is the intention of the buyer to repair the toys so the movement problems are corrected.
