This very good condition tip tray was a promotional item from a Brazilian distributor of New Home sewing machines.

New Home commenced business in 1860 when they introduced the "single thread hand sewing machine." In the early 1920's the company had financial difficulties, and in 1930 the company was sold to Free Sewing Machine Co.

We believe this tip tray was made before 1930. The tin litho colored graphic of a grandmother sewing her grandson's britches with him still wearing the pants has become quite collectible.

This is a nice piece of history. There are no scratches to the front of the tray, but some of the gold lettering on top of the tray has faded. There is no fading to the New Home name or other images. The black paint on the tray does show some scratching and wear on the edges as would be expected.
