- Description
These Topsy-Turvy dolls were probably made between 1901-1910 from a patented lithograph process developed by Bruckner.
The dolls themselves are in fair condition with substantial yellowing and staining on the white muslin fabric covering the two-headed doll. The rare litho heads maintain good images of the facial features and hair, but there has been fading and some minor scuffing on the heads.
The original 100+ year-old plaid dress does have some holes and tears, but the doll's body remains covered from the waist down. The cloth arms are missing from the black girl.
Despite all the negatives listed, these litho Topsy-Turvy dolls have become quite rare and for the price, you should have a doll like this in your collection to understand what an antique Topsy-Turvy litho doll looks like.
