- Description
The interesting oak case contains a 1920's Cecilian hand crank phonograph that doesn't work due to a cracked metal playing arm and a wind-up crank that does not seem to want to wind anything.
The good news is that the best way to play a broken 78 RPM record is to play it with a broken record player. Thomas Edison invented the record player in 1877, and in 1906 the Cecilian Phonograph Record Player Company commenced manufacturing operations in Canada.
This well-built wood cabinet measures 15" in depth, 11-1/2" in width and 7-1/4" in height.
The playing arm that is broken was designed to fit into the hinged front panel of the cabinet when not in use. The metal hinges, cabinet closure and upper and lower metal corner protectors are in very good condition as is the cabinet, metal phonograph name plate, speed adjustments and crank handle.
