We believe this metal doll dates back to the late 1800's. The clown is intact but the wind-up mechanism no longer works.

The fine silk clothing is thin and there are substantial holes near the knees and other minor tears on other portions of the outfit. With all this said, the acrobatic clown is still beautiful and his metal legs, arms, hands and shoes are worth viewing.

The hand-painted bisque face displays unique facial features despite the fact that there is some missing composite material on his nose and upper right cheek. The wood chair with a supporting rod is included.

This is a wonderful example of a very old clown that deserves to sit on a special collector's shelf.
