We looked long and hard to find another toy like this in the marketplace. We believe this is an early 1900's or late 1800's German-manufactured toy featuring a key spring and push rod that propels the celluloid clown sitting in the metal trapeze seat over the high bar.

The easily accessible winding mechanism was not tested due to the lack of a key. Replacing the mechanism would not be difficult due to the ease of access. The push rod and metal frame are in good condition.

The dimensions are 13-1/2" tall x 7-1/2" wide and 6" in length.  A heavy metal naked baby figure is attached to the high bar as a counterweight. The metal frame measures 13-1/2" tall x 7-1/2" wide and 6" in length.

This is a very rare and unique piece revealing why great metal wind-ups were so popular at the turn of the century.
