This Japanese-manufactured circus monkey was the featured player in a high wire act that was produced in the 1930's to early 1950's.

The monkey originally came with a bunch of bananas in one hand and a high wire string could be stretched to allow this primate to slide across the string line by using the momentum created by the up and down motion of his arms and metal hands.

The monkey's arms moved well when we tested the winding mechanism. The original bananas are missing. The fur, clothing, pipe, and tin face of this toy are in very good condition, but there is some damage to both feet. Thankfully, this monkey was not made to stand on its feet.

For the price, this is a nice wind-up to own.
