This working 8" tall tin wind-up is very hard to identify. We believe this toy was made by Guntherman around 1920's based on the wind-up mechanism.

The image of the helmeted officer moves his legs back and forth when you wind the key. When tested, the right leg moved rapidly, but the left leg remained fairly stiff; however, it was able to move up and down if the officer's hand was moved.

This is a great toy for paint restoration since the old tin metal remains in very good condition and the original color scheme on the face, helmet and body remains easy to determine.

We could not find another item like this in a catalogue, so we know the toy is probably rare. We believe we know enough about this item to feel confident that our price is more than fair.
