Antique Working German Wind-Up Tin Mechanical Monkey Playing Gong With Fez

This is a very unique all-tin monkey with fez with a long tail that plays the gong when wound. The winding mechanism and arm connections appear to be old German craftsmanship. The toy works very well. The paint on the toy (mostly red) is faded but there seems to be no damage to the metal. 

The large feet of this monkey allows the toy to stand and present well. We have not seen another toy like this one and hope that the mystery of who made this great piece and when this tin was made could be answered.
