- Description
Enclosed in the original carton stamped “Welcome To The Republic of Korea: The President of the United States and Mrs. Jimmy Carter”. The carton box has the printed flags for both nations and the cigarettes were made by Geobugsean Tobacco Company of South Korea. The carton box is in good shape on the top flap and three side flaps but the bottom flap is marred by tape removal.
The cigarette packs are in mint condition. From June 28 to July 1, 1979, President Carter made a historic visit to South Korea to meet with President Park Chung Hee and other South Korean political and religious leaders. The visit was termed a great success and some democratic reforms did take place in South Korea immediately after President Carter’s visit.
The item was acquired from an auction of the items owned by the Estate of Eugene Charles Allen. Mr. Allen was a famous White House presidential waiter and servant for over 34 years. He passed in 2010 at the age of 90. The 2013 movie titled “The Butler” was based on his wonderful life and service.
