The great golfer Samuel Jackson Snead (1912-2002) became a professional golfer in 1934 and is thought of as one of the greatest golfers in history.

He had 82 PGA tour wins that included 7 majors but a win at the US Open never materialized. His nickname was "Slammin' Sammy" or the "Long Ball Hitter From West Virginia."

In Snead's first year in the PGA tour in 1937, he won six tournaments. Most pros would agree that Sam Snead had the best natural golf swing of any player. He taught himself golf during the Great Depression with a set of clubs carved from tree limbs.

Sam Snead enjoyed doodling. The elephant drawing signed "Best wishes, Sam Snead" is very rare, and one can imagine Snead sitting at a table, bored and trying to pass the time with a doodle or two. The framed 8 x 10" drawing is in excellent condition.
