This American Chicle Company tin box is in near-mint condition.  The lid hinge and the inside of the box is pristine.  The box measures 6 ¾” Length x 5” Width x 4” Height.  Thomas Adams (1818-1905) was regarded as the founder of chewing gum.  In 1870 Adams' created the first flavored gum and the gum was licorice flavor (named Black Jack).
