This cough remedy was manufactured by C.W Beggs Sons & Co in Chicago, IL. These two 25-cent bottles are in wonderful shape and the contents and cork have been waiting long for some brave soul that is dumb enough to try it.

It’s interesting that the cough remedy only had 2.5% alcohol content so it is probably safe to assume that the bottle contains clean old Lake Michigan water that in itself could one day become a collector's item.

The C.W. Beggs Sons & Co. started in 1874 and sold items it produced to mostly pharmacies. In 1993, the company was acquired by an allergist whose mission was to create hypoallergenic skin care products under the name Marcelle Products. Marcelle skin, hair, and cosmetic products are produced in Chicago today. The original box is quite brittle but readable and the old product insert pages remain inside the box.
