Early 1900’s Painted Face Black Americana Folk Dolls (Male & Female)

These two-cloth hand-painted folk dolls are in good shape for their age. The female doll’s face and hair are still of good color, with minor cracking in the cloth.  Her hands show some cloth cracking but all fingers are discernible. The shoes and feet are in excellent condition and her original handmade clothing has some discoloration from the sun and soiling. 

The male figure’s face has some cloth cracking around the mouth but all facial and hair features are very clear.  Hands and feet show wear.  There is a dark ink-like stain on his right suspender but the original handmade clothing is in decent shape with some sun fading on the silk skirt.  The material used and hand painting on cloth make these dolls very special.
