This great ornate tin bank works by placing a coin on the tray, pressing the monkey's tail and watching the mouth open as the arm raises the tray near the mouth to deposit the coin.

The tin is in very good condition, and the top of the platform contains the original gold lettering with instructions on how to operate the bank. The four sides of the bank feature pictures of monkeys playing in their cages.

The bank measures 6-3/4" in height. The key is missing to open the bank. This item is a great example of simple German metal banks that could survive with some metal shining through after a century or more of production.
