- Description
This Early 1950’s Mechanical Tin Litho Monkey automatically climbs up the 17” tall palm tree using a counter-weighted pulley system. The monkey is supposed to retrieve a coconut from the tray at the top of the tree and when the monkey reaches the bottom the coconut is released into the tray.
The coconuts have been lost and marbles or gumballs could be used instead. This toy is highly sought after and the wind-up is in very good condition. The pulley system worked well when tested.
This rare toy has little damage to the tin, monkey, or painted surfaces with the exception of some paint loss and oxidation on the bottom base tray. There is only one plastic palm frond at the top of the tree and we believe the original toy had three to four fonds attached.
