Early Reproduction of 1928 Saalheimer & Strauss Minstrel Mechanical Bank

This cast iron bank was very popular and there were many copies of the original German bank made through the years. The bank is in good working order and when you place a coin on the tongue, the minstrel swallows the coin and rolls his eyes when you pull up on the lever under his mouth.

The bank has never been repainted and is in very good condition. The verse written in red is very hard to read because the red paint on the raised lettering is fairly worn. The verse says “Press the lever lightly, watch my tongue appear, save a penny nightly, make your fortune here."
