We doubt if you'll find another horse like this. The German winding mechanism looks like it was made in the late 1800s. The tin horse is covered in real horsehide. The winding mechanism worked well when tested and when wound, the horse's four legs moved in a galloping action.
The horse hide has worn off on the legs and the legs reflect a somewhat attractive dark brown color that is consistent with metal that has oxidized and rusted. The color of the legs actually match the color of the reins in European saddles. The tail of the horse is made of real horse hair as were the chaps of the rider.
The riders' clothing including shirt, vest, chaps, and belt are in wonderful condition. The rider’s face appears to be made of layers of thin cloth similar to the way paper mâché is made and the rider’s facial features are in good condition.
As expected there is some pitting and split in the hide covering the horse due to dryness. The age of the hide makes this toy somewhat delicate and you should grab the toy from the bottom to avoid damaging the hide. This is a unique wind-up Bronco and it will stand out in any collection
