Nothing is better for a young child after a game of sharpened lawn darts to move indoors to play with a coping saw that cuts wood, plastics, Masonite, rubber, plastic tile and aluminum molding.

The toy came with patterns to make wooden pictures and bookend characters. At 7200 strikes per minute, this saw could cut one foot of wood per minute. When I was nine, my friend, Three Finger Pete made me a nice set of bookends with his toy-like coping saw that I proudly display near my list of do’s and don’ts when handling cutting instruments.

When I was ten, my friend Pete changed his name to Two Finger Pete after Mattel came out with the Build a Guillotine toy. This great toy includes a working saw, extra blades, instructions and patterns. The box is in very good condition with only normal wear and tear evidence and some color fading.
