Lehmann EPL II 652 Tin Litho Wind-Up Zeppelin Airship

Lehmann made these tins in Germany between 1912 and 1938. We believe this 9 ½” long airship was manufactured around 1920. When tested, the wind-up mechanism worked well and the rear propeller turned effortlessly.

The paint does have fading, wear, and scratches that are customary for a toy that’s about a century old. There is also some slight metal seam separation near the tail fin. More importantly, the toy’s many printed markings including trademarks and German designations (at least 10) make this toy somewhat unique as it looks like a billboard for a made-in-Germany air race rally.
