Old Mary Jane Box (3 for 1 cent)

We spent enough time trying to date this candy box and stopped when we couldn't find anything comparable that had the initials A.D. rather than B.C. after the date.  The Mary Jane box is in good condition with some soiling. 

Charles Miller started making Mary Jane’s around 1884 when they implemented a cooking process that made taffy softer.  The box has 3 pieces for 1 cent on the cover so we are confident that the box was made before Jerome Powell was born.
