The hand-carved man positioned himself on a wire or a lampshade ring by balancing on the thin surface with a groove in the middle of his foot. At the end of each 14-inch long balancing pole is a hand-carved wood watermelon. The width of the item would is approximately 28 inches.

There is some paint loss on the center of the man's body due to rubbing back and forth on a lampshade ring. This folk art piece can be left on a wire because the balancing mechanics are very effective.
