Pre-1940 Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars Box (unwrapped bars, 144 count) - 2 For $.01

We have never seen one of these boxes before so we know that it is very rare.  The box is in good shape with some soiling and spots and the date written in ink of 3-11-39 but we are not sure if the date is applicable to the manufacturing date of this box.  2-for-a-cent unwrapped Hershey bars were not common after the 1930’s. 

The bottom of the box has instructions on how to open a hermetically sealed box (airtight) and warns the retailer to keep the chocolate away from heat, drugs, oils, and tobacco to avoid the chocolate absorption of these odors.
