The audacity to ask $375 for a rare baseball toy that doesn't seem to turn on is only overshadowed by the person who doesn't realize how rare it is to find this tin baseball toy in such good condition.
This toy features a 5-1/4" tall baseball player wearing an "All Stars" uniform holding a plastic bat while standing at the plate in front of the batting machine that still holds three original plastic baseballs.
The sides on the tin base foundation of the toy feature illustrations of a pitcher, infielder, and catcher with various major league team names (yes, the Cleveland Indians are among them). The front of the metal base reads "All Stars" with the image of crossed bats and a baseball that has "Champion" written on it.
When working, the balls in the batting machine are raised one at a time to enable the batter to swing and hit the ball. The ball machine looks good from an operational perspective. The 7-1/2" tall toy's tin and colors remain very good with little scratching and only some minor oxidation near the metal seams.
The battery compartment holds one "D" cell battery and looks very clean. The on/off switch is present. We know that many of these toys require some expertise, including gear lube or wire repair to get the toy working, since the Japanese were not the finest battery toy electricians in the 1950's.
Whether this toy works or not, the toy is worthy of a good collector, and if the toy can be placed in working order, the price of this toy would likely exceed $750.
