Rare Mighty Mouse Hand Painted Wooden Carousel Figure

This hand-painted Mighty Mouse wood figure was used as a children's seat on an old carousel.

The figure measures approximately 40-1/2" in length, 17" in height, and 8" in width. The actual seat is 7" wide. 

Mighty Mouse made his debut in 1942 from Terrytoons Studio and was a character created by Isadore Klein, who thought it would be fun to have a parody of a Superman type character that was a mouse.

Mighty Mouse grew in popularity resulting in the creation of a Saturday morning cartoon show named Mighty Mouse Playhouse that aired from 1955 to 1967.  

The figure still has its original paint, and the character's blue eyes and Superman-type cape, tight shorts, and tight shirt set the stage for a Clark Kent transformational character that evolved into a large, colorful mouse.

When found, this figure was mounted on a wall with a threaded pipe using the hole that would have mounted the figure to the carousel. Throughout the year, the structure of the neck supporting the head cracked and was repaired with industrial adhesive. A scarf was added around the neck of the figure to hide the repair.

Overall, there is some wood loss by the scarf hidden neck repair site, but other areas of the figure show very little wood loss, cracking, or splitting, and the paint still looks great.

We have seen a few of these figures sell for as high as $3,300 and feel confident that the buyer of this lot will be receiving both a great deal and a great item when purchasing this fun piece.
