This heavy cast-iron bank is a credit to Shephard Hardware Company's ingenuity.

The excellent condition bank was patented in 1897 and measures 7-1/2" in height, 4-3/4" in width, and 3-3/8" in depth. When the bank is cranked, the song "The Entertainer" written by Scott Joplin, is played.

After cranking a few turns, the drummer's arms and the fiddler's arms move up and down to play the instruments.

We would recommend that the arms be raised when not in use. The words Shephard Hardware 1897 are embossed on the bottom plate, but it is obvious that this bank is a reproduction of the earlier bank.
