This William Morris Press Department original photo of Amos 'n' Andy reveals a great story. The 1928-1960 radio show was created by two white actors Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll.

The radio show featured black characters who lived in Chicago and then moved to Harlem. The radio show ran nightly from 1928 to 1943 and then weekly from 1943-1955.

A television adaptation of the show ran from 1951-1953, with syndicated reruns airing 1954-1966. Gosden & Correll named the show Amos 'n' Andy after they heard two aging Black Americans greet each other with those names in a Chicago elevator.

Correll was the voice of Andy, and Gosden was the voice of Amos and Kingfish. Pepsodent was a major sponsor of both the radio and television show.
