This original WWII ship recognition kit was made by H.A. Franburg & Company located in Chicago, Illinois.  The kit contains 22 detailed metal ship models of which 18 are mounted on individual slide-out wood shelves and are dated 12/43 with a ship description on the underside of the slide-out shelves.  The kit was used to train US Navy seamen to identify ships at sea.

Included in the kit are ship classes that ships identified by call or ship name including Royal Sovereign,  Arethusa, Dido, Queen Elizabeth, Cumberland, Hawkins, Cruiser, Emerald, Devonshire, “H” Class, Leander, Tribal and Carrier.

Kit measures 17” Length x 14” Width x 3” Height when folded and 34” wide when fully opened.  The paint, lettering, wood, and ships are in very good condition despite their age and use.  Very few kits like these include so many metal ships.
